LEAP has served as the managed print partner for M&G Investments for several years. When it came time to produce the annual tax year end mailout, our client wanted to make the whole process as eco-friendly as possible. They also wanted to share the progress on their sustainable print production, which is a shared endeavour with LEAP’s print production experts, who provide ongoing support, advice, and project management on their journey to a more sustainable future.
LEAP selected vegetable-based inks that were free from formulated mineral oil and cobalt. Using inks that don’t contain heavy metals and are derived from renewable sources rather than petroleum is better for the environment at the manufacturing, printing, and recycling stages.
Paper consumption is the biggest concern for the environmental impact of print production. LEAP worked with M&G to reduce the amount of paper in the pack by 36% compared to similar communication sent out the previous year. Our print division is FSC® certified (licence number C157226), and as a company, we only buy certified COC material from sustainable forests. M&G’s Tax Year End mailpack was sourced entirely from sustainable European forests.
To further reduce the environmental impact of printed paper consumption, LEAP has partnered with Forest Carbon to facilitate the calculation and purchase of Carbon Credits. The carbon offset for the M&G Tax Year End mailing translates to planting approximately 355 metres square of woodland in the UK.
LEAP is making good progress on our journey to net zero, and we were pleased to support our client with their sustainability efforts. When M&G saw fit to showcase our EcoVadis silver medal accreditation with a QR code and website link on their brochure, we could not have been more proud.
The sign-off comment from Lucy Pepperrell, Senior Marketing Manager for M&G was,
Thank you for all your efforts on this year’s campaign, which proved to be the toughest one yet, but was made especially pleasing as our combined efforts made it the most environmentally friendly and eco-aware mailing we have produced to date.
A pleasing end to a well-managed campaign.
