Next in the Meet Our Team series, we present Taylor Setterfield. Taylor is an Account Manager in the Client Services team at our LEAP Create office.
Can you tell us about who you are and what you do?
My role involves organising projects and briefs for the client accounts that I manage as well as planning resources to ensure we meet the clients’ expectations. This involves producing project plans, attending briefing sessions, liaising with clients and our own resource teams, proofing, reporting, optimising, coming up with new marketing ideas for my clients and always looking at additional ways to help maximise our clients’ success. I work closely with the LEAP Create team of creatives, designers and developers, and also our production and print teams at LEAP London.
I love meeting new people and bouncing off others, so you’ll very rarely see me by myself – I’d say I’m a very confident person, however I do like having my ‘chill time’… I’m also a big believer in keeping positive, so I try to bring this into every day.
How did you get into the marketing industry?
I actually started off as an apprentice at LEAP! They took me in when I was a baby, and they’ve helped me to grow and flourish into the person I am today – LEAP really did change my life for the better, and I’ll forever be thankful for the opportunities they’ve provided me with.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I love being creative, or even if I’m not able to be creative myself at times, I love being surrounded by creativity. It’s so inspiring to me. It shows that the world is your oyster, and you always have the possibility to create anything. I love how the job can never become mundane. We’re always so busy and there are always different projects to work on; some might be digital, print, creative, websites, logos, adverts, or social media. My favourites in particular are production jobs, but every day is different and unpredictable!
What’s the project you’re most proud of?
I’m working on managing a video/photoshoot from start (creative concepts), all the way to the end (promoting the campaign through paid social). This video is a little different to other ones I’ve worked on previously. We’re currently at the casting talent stage, but I can’t wait for it to be live!
What’s your favourite ad and why?
My favourite ad used to be the Extra Gum, ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love.’ However, the other day I saw the Adobe Photoshop one and I LOVED it! Can’t fault it at all.
Who’s your inspiration?
Truthfully? Roger Cayless Our Creative Director (but maybe don’t include this as I don’t want it to go to his head, ha-ha!). Sara MacGregor is also a huge inspiration to me with regards to the Client Services side, but as I’ve mentioned previously, I just love all things creative. The way in which Roger’s brain works and how creativity flows out of him so naturally, it really inspires me to want to follow in similar footsteps.
How do you stay motivated?
I check in with myself on a regular basis. In this world it’s easy to become unmotivated, however you have to look at the smaller things and create your own happiness. We’re all able to achieve anything if we just put our minds to it, therefore every day is an opportunity for endless possibilities.
What advice would you give to someone just starting out in this field?
Grasp every opportunity you’re given, and remember every day is a school day. The marketing industry covers so many different aspects that are ever changing, therefore there will always be an opportunity to broaden or heighten your knowledge into a certain area. For my job specifically, my top tip would be to stay organised but also prioritise tasks, otherwise it can be overwhelming at times. And most importantly? Enjoy yourself. They say when you find a job you love, you won’t work another day in your life, and it really is true.
