LEAP’s Meet our Team interview series introduces Senior Transcreation Account Manager Adamantini Kolb (née Spanachi), perhaps better known as ‘Dini’.

Adamantini 'Dini' Spanachi Senior Transcreation Account Manager

Can you tell us about who you are and what you do?

I come from a tiny Mediterranean island, but I have been living in the UK for 10 years now. I was always passionate about languages and intercultural communication so with four languages in my pocket (Greek, English, Spanish and German), I decided to study Linguistics at bachelor level and Translation and Interpreting at master’s level. I currently work as a Senior Transcreation Account Manager within the Language and Culture team.

How did you get into the advertising and marketing industry?

I had previously worked as a translation project manager where I was managing technical and medical translations which focused primarily on conveying the literal meaning. I therefore decided to explore the more creative approaches to translation. Transcreation was the best option since it gives me the opportunity to delve more into different cultures and work on ‘outside the box’ translations for each market.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

I love that every day is different! Every project is unique, and I am able to see what is happening behind the scenes. I find it fascinating that I can be part of so many advertising campaigns. It is also extremely rewarding to see our work out in the world when it goes live.

What’s the project you’re most proud of?

I have been managing the COS account and am proud of the work we have done for the fashion brand.

I’m also really proud of the campaign we worked on for John Frieda. I worked on the transcreation of the video scripts into German, and I also managed the localisation production side of things. It was fascinating to see the final product and to be part of the process.

Another project that I really enjoyed was the Morocco campaign for TripAdvisor in which we created the English copy and adapted it into four languages – German, French, Spanish and Hebrew.

Do you have any hidden talents or favourite pastimes?

In my free time, I love to play the piano, go to the gym and to read books! Sometimes, I share my piano playing videos on Instagram. I also love traveling, and I even lived and worked in Spain for a while.

What’s your biggest motivation?

My biggest motivation is being able to meet my goals at work, to meet any deadline regardless of how tight the turnaround time or demanding the project is. I love seeing how we grow as a team and how we can achieve anything together!
