Our Making the LEAP interview series features members of the team who’ve made the leap from their studies to a role at LEAP. Next, we introduce Rabin Gharti-Magar, a Front-End Developer at LEAP Create.
Can you tell us about who you are and what you do at LEAP?
In my current role, I work on email campaigns for our clients such as NewDay & exaqueo. I also build website landing pages and assist with Google Analytics.
How did your studies help prepare you for your career?
I have always had an interest in computers, but I wasn’t sure which path I should take. During my time at university, I had an opportunity to explore different computer science topics, and this is when coding attracted me. I started focusing on this area and took part in an online bootcamp. The bootcamp helped me sharpen my coding skills and gave me the necessary skills I needed to work as a front-end developer.
What do you like most about your role at LEAP Create?
I enjoy the process of learning new things every day. Besides that, I enjoy working with the team because everyone is helpful, and this makes it easier to work on the tasks I am assigned.
What is the project you’re most proud of so far?
I am proud of all the work I have done. The one I enjoyed working on most is the email I built for Chichester Cinema because I had an opportunity to implement new features such as responsiveness.
Is there something your colleagues might not know about you yet?
When I was younger, I enjoyed sketching animated characters and cartoons. I haven’t done this for a very long time, but this is something I would like to do again. I also enjoy watching historical documentaries.
What advice would you give to someone interested in working in this field?
Don’t give up on your dreams. It’s rewarding, and you’ll have an opportunity to learn new things and develop your skills. Remember your goals and stay focused.
Where would you like to imagine yourself to be in 5-10 years’ time?
In 5-10 years, I would like to see myself progressing in this role and continuing to learn and grow in this industry.
