Our last Instagram takeover of 2017 featured Inga Kva, a talented graphic designer who delighted us with her fantastic animal-themed illustrations. Inga was born in Lithuania where she studied graphic design at Vilnius Academy of Arts. She finished her studies with a Masters degree from Rome University of Fine Arts.
Inga had the opportunity to work with Lithuanian Railways and collaborated with LT identity to design a costume for Lithuanian artist Algirdas Kaušpėdas. Inga is currently working in the office of the Republic of Lithuania as a creative graphic designer.
How did you start drawing? What is your story?
Drawing has always been my passion and my way to relax. I always looked at it as a hobby rather than a job, so I thought it’d be a good idea to do what I really enjoy for a living. I really love how lines and dots mix, the pencil drawings and the smell of ink.
Describe your art style in three words
Romantic, naive and macabre.
What do you enjoy most about what you do?
The most satisfying part of my job is when my clients and I are satisfied with the result of my work.
Most of your illustrations showcase animals and their feelings. What animal would you be and why?
I basically draw animals because I identify myself with them. For example, on weekends after a very hard week, I stay in bed in a happy mood feeling like a sloth.
I love all animals and sometimes I feel like a hedgehog: needles outside – soft inside.
What was your favourite/most challenging project so far and why?
A very exciting and challenging project was the costume for Algirdas Kaušpėdas. I had only one weekend to draw it and it had to be very detailed. I remember that after that I had to put an ice pack on my wrist. It was very painful.
Where do you see yourself a few years from now?
After a few years, I would like to work more in the creative industry. Maybe I’d consider working abroad.
Thanks for this enjoyable interview and for the opportunity of taking over the Loveurope Instagram account.
