Jo Merecido Joins WACL

LEAP’s Head of Group Marketing and Business Development Jo Merecido joins the new intake at WACL (Women in Advertising and Communication Leadership).

More than 200 senior women from advertising, communications and media belong to WACL, and together they are on a mission to accelerate gender equality in the industry.

2022 is a year for ‘Leading for Change’ according to Kate Waters, Client Strategy and Planning Director, ITV & WACL President 2021-22.

Lockdown forced us all to adopt new working practices and showed many businesses what could be achieved through flexible working. The return to the office will undoubtedly create further changes to our cultures and our ways of working. We believe that each of these is an opportunity to design for equality and create a fairer, more diverse and more equitable working world.

Jo is a strategically driven business development and marketing professional. Her background spans agency and client-side roles. Having served as an in-house CIM-qualified marketer for financial institutions including J.P. Morgan Asset Management, Natixis AM and Raymond James Investment Services, Jo has a deep understanding of this complex sector.

Since leaving the square mile, Jo has collected a rap sheet spanning brand design, market research/consumer intelligence and creative production across consumer and luxury sectors, working with brands like eCover and retailer Selfridges. Connecting brands and consumers is at the heart of what she does, and she achieves this through holistic marketing, creative solutions, and truly getting under the skin of each brand she works with.

Co-President of a Lean In London Network, Jo is already proactive in the movement for gender equality in the workplace and is excited to continue to pursue this goal as a part of WACL.
